Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress who works in the fields of film, television and theatre. The most famous of her roles is Teri Joe, a fiery lawyer on The Showtime program Soul Food. When she got married, she changed her name to Nikki Kodjoe. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an interest in acting from the age of five and was awarded an award for the best Actress award in a Maryland high school contest. Apart from her role at the theater as well as with the Washington Ballet Company. The company awarded her a degree in Acting from New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love brought her a first-class role. Later came films such as "Boogie Nights Spark" and Blue Streak. Soul Food was an immensely well-loved TV show. Her appearances were in TV programs such as Second Time Around, and Empire. Earlier on in her life, Parker appeared in many stage productions. Parker is a politician, who is also active in the fashion world and acting, is currently married to Boris Kodjoe. The couple has two daughters.
The family was born from Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria until the age of seven. Contractor was well-versed in world travels and a variety of cultures at a very young age. At the age of seven through nine, she attended boarding schools in London. Her family relocated to Toronto and she resided there for most of her childhood. Contractor trained and eventually became an expert in classical dancing in Toronto. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts which was a highly specialized high school that taught not only dance, but also drama. Contractor began acting at age 16, following nearly 10 years of dance. She received a full-scholarship grant to attend the University of Toronto after graduating. There she earned her master's degree in theatre as well as a double major in social and psychology. Contractor was a student who'd spent a year in university and auditioned during an open call for Pericles, at the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canada] and won the part. Her performance was lauded throughout the 92 productions she appeared in. She won the award in 2002 for the Best Production of the Year by Canadian critics. She was given the chance to enroll in the Stratford Conservatory. It is a private institution that accepts just eight men and four woman for a crash course in the art of classical theatre. Contractor eagerly accepted. Contractor got a place in the following season of shows and eventually landed the part in the role of Hermia as Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
